FAQs

How much does it cost? Is it covered by insurance?

The cost of a visit is $150 for a telemedicine consultation. Some insurance companies cover telehealth visits. If your insurance company doesn't currently cover telehealth, you can still use the service.

Do I need to have health insurance to use Telemedicine Physician Group?

No. Telemedicine Physician Group does not require that you have health insurance to use the service, and the price is the same whether you have insurance or not.

Is the Telemedicine consultation visit secure?

Yes, Telemedicine Physician Group is designed to be a private, secure, HIPAA-compliant tool that allows you to safely and confidentially consult with a doctor via phone or online.

Is this an emergency physician service?

No. If you think you are experiencing a life-threatening or severe condition, call 911 or go directly to the Emergency Department.

What conditions can Telemedicine Physician Group treat?

We can diagnose, recommend treatment, and prescribe medication for non-emergency medical issues including: cold and flu symptoms, bronchitis, allergies, poison ivy, pink eye, urinary tract infection, respiratory infection, sinus problems, ear infection, and more!

Do you accept health insurance?

Although most insurance companies will reimburse a portion of the visit or apply the amount to your deductible if it has not been met at this time, we do not accept insurance in the traditional sense. We will provide you with the documentation that can be submitted to your health insurance company for reimbursement. Many Telemedicine Physician Group patients have been receiving partial reimbursements from their private health insurance companies through the "out-of-network" option of their PPO plans. The average as much as 80%, which means that the true cost to the patient for a visit could be a lot less after receiving reimbursement. However, please be aware that Telemedicine Physician Group does not guarantee any reimbursement, and that many types of health insurance products exist within each individual plan.

Do you take HMO insurance plans, Medicare, Medi-Cal, or Medicaid?

We are non-participating providers for HMO insurance plans, Medicare, Medi-Cal, and Medicaid. We do require that all fees are paid at time of service.

What if I already have a primary care physician?

Telemedicine Physician Group is not meant to replace your primary care physician, but rather support such a relationship.  For example, it is estimated that 70% of physician visits can be handled via phone.  However, there are times when we will recommend you see your primary care physician in person or help guide you to one if you do not have an existing relationship.

How long do the consultations typically last?

Consultations typically last 10 minutes, but our physicians will spend as much time with you as necessary to ensure a proper diagnosis, treatment plan, and answer all of your questions. The doctor will always follow up within 48 hours to make sure your symptoms are improving.
